A railway line is being restored between Židlochovice and Hrušovany u Brna after forty years. The joint venture Hrušky (comprising OHL ŽS and Subterra) has been working on the construction of a three-kilometer section since the end of last year. The railway line is planned to be completed next spring and trains will return to the route with the introduction of the 2020/21 timetable.
The subject of the contract is a complete renewal and, at the same time, modernization of the railway line including related infrastructures. The railway superstructure and substructure are being reconstructed and so are the stations of Židlochovice and Hrušovany u Brna. In addition, new platforms in Hrušovany and two platforms in Židlochovice are being constructed. The signaling technology will comply with the latest standards and visually the biggest change will be electrification of the whole section so that direct trains from Brno will be able to access Židlochovice.
