Construction works on the brand new football stadium in Košice has already lasted for half a year. On the last inspection day at the end of April, it was pleasing to see that the works are carried out according to the schedule. Stage one of the stadium should be finished by the end of this year. Then, the stadium will serve for 5.5 thousand spectators.
The modern stadium in Košice will meet the latest European standards. It should serve not only for football but also other social and cultural events of the city. Boasting an excellent location on the outskirts of the city, it is easily accessible and close to shopping centres, the motorway and the airport. After the end of the last, third stage, it should hold up to 13 thousand spectators.
The overall size of the stands is approximately 154 × 114 meters. The main building will have one underground and three above-ground floors and the roof will be walkable. The reinforced concrete load-bearing structure of the main building will create service areas for players, journalists, coaches, VIP guests, etc.
The builders have almost completed underground works and moved to the surface. It focuses on the construction of the C stand whose supporting parts are made of prefabricated elements which are produced in nearby Kysak. At the end of May, they should start to cover it with roofs made of steel structures.
There will also be two 64 x 100-meter training areas, one of which will be covered with artificial lawn and the other will be equipped with a natural lawn, including heating and irrigation.
“After completing the stadium, it will primarily serve sport and culture, making us as a contractor a significant contribution to the modern and healthier lives of the people who will use it for these purposes. The match has started, so let’s win it,” said the Director of OHL ŽS Slovakia, Bohumila Chrappová.
