Twenty-two subsidized 1 + kk (a studio with a kitchen and a bathroom) flats, four commercial 2 + kk (2 rooms with a kitchen a bathroom) flats, a day care centre. All this in the last twenty months was built by builders from Division J – Bohemia in Sezimovo Ústí. The first phase of the construction of the new Nursing Home for which the locals strived for almost thirty years, was inaugurated and presented to the public on Thursday, February 21st.
The Nursing home grew up on the site of a former kindergarten. Each apartment is equipped with a large barrier free bathroom and a fully equipped kitchenette. In addition to the housing units themselves and the common areas, the project included the construction of sufficient technical and storage facilities, a kitchen with a dining room, lay-by and parking areas, and no less important modifications to the surroundings of the house, including a new playground.
The building was designed by architects from the studio of Atelier DISprojekt in Třebíč. “The design takes advantage of the construction of a compact block with the possibility of annexing simple wings with apartments. Most rooms face south. Vertical roads are placed in the centre of the block and together with the atrium form the heart of the building. The Atrium is to serve as a winter garden and a meeting place”, said one of the designers, Jiří Šťáva who specified the project.
The main investor of the construction is the City of Sezimovo Ústí and the construction is also partly financed by the Ministry for Regional Development from a program supporting nursing homes. In the near future, the city is also planning another stage in the construction of 26 new apartments.
