The historical building of the railway station was reconstructed into the original Neo-Baroque style, including stucco decoration in the hall’s premises of the building. In front of the historical building, there is an annex building which serves as a check-in hall. There are located the cash registers, the Czech Railways centre and the passage to the historic building where other operating areas such as waiting rooms, restaurant shops and services are situated.

The annex building is designed as a modern reinforced concrete structure with extremely slender columns with transparent facade design using frameless glazing. The glasses are fastened in the joints on the connecting rods which keep the springs in sustained prestress. The roof panel contains glazed openings above which light sources illuminating the hall space are located. Before the annex building, there is a tank with fountains which has a climatic function in addition to its aesthetic function.

The construction obtained awards in several competitions:

2007 House of Ostrava

2007 Construction of the Moravian-Silesian Region (1st place in the Civic Buildings category)

Taurus Competition (1st place in the category Realization of Interiors of Civic and Industrial Buildings)
