THE RECONSTRUCTED PREMISES OF THE POHODA RETIREMENT HOME WERE OPENED

Olomouc-Chválkovice, 13 June 2011 – Today, the reconstructed premises of the POHODA Retirement Home were ceremonially opened in the Olomouc -Chválkovice city district. The reconstruction of the facilities for employees started in September last year, and the total cost reached CZK 16.88 million. The investor was the Regional Council of the Olomouc Region.

“Investments increasing the quality of the social services provided in the Olomouc Region rank among our priorities. Of course, the employees working in these fields also deserve quality facilities,” said Martin Tesařík, the President of the Olomouc Region, at the ceremonial opening.

The reconstruction of the main building in Švabinského Street included construction work on the 1st below-ground floor. This included adaptations of the interior layout and the space arrangements in the building, including related construction work aimed at finding a solution to the unsuitable condition of the changing rooms and facilities for employees. Construction work also began on the ground floor, the 1st floor and in the kitchen which provides catering services, all of this took place during the full operation of the retirement home.

The original changing rooms for 84 people in the right wing of the building were extended, sanitary facilities for employees were constructed, employee lounges, store rooms for the laundry room, and the cleaner’s room were adapted. Separate changing rooms with sanitary facilities were constructed in the left and central wings. These will be used by apprentices (6 of them for boys and 8 for girls) and 40 employees in total, particularly the kitchen and maintenance staff, “I hope that the employees of the retirement home will like the new facilities and that we will make their demanding work at least a little more pleasant,” said Jaromír Pelinka, CEO of Division 3 Olomouc of the Surface Construction Branch of OHL ŽS, a.s.

Furthermore, a cleaner’s room was constructed as well as workplaces for the joinery and locksmith staff, an electrical goods storeroom and an employee lounge for the maintenance staff. The proper operation of these wings of the building required an external sewer connection from Švabinského Street and a new water supply for fire fighting. The changing rooms and facilities for employees have new interior furnishing – metal wardrobes with a bench, wardrobes with a pedestal, tables, chairs and benches).

The investor of the reconstruction, which was launched on 1 September 2010 and completed on 31 May 2011, was the Regional Council of the Olomouc Region. The total investment sum (exclusive of VAT) amounted to CZK 16.88 million. The contract was implemented by Division 3 Olomouc of the Surface Construction Branch of OHL ŽS, a.s. according to the project designed by  STAVOPROJEKT OLOMOUC a.s.
