PŘICHYSTALOVA STREET IN OLOMOUC HAS ALREADY BEEN OPENED

02. 09. 2010

On September 2, the overall reconstruction of Přichystalova Street in the Nový Svět Metropolitan District, Olomouc, was ceremonially completed. The investor of the construction was the Chartered City of Olomouc and the total cost amounted to CZK 92.7 mill. VAT included.

The construction work had been underway there from October last year, making life for local people considerably more complicated because it is the main access road to this location. Přichystalova is a dead-end street, starting by the crossroads with Holická Street, and is 1085 m long. From the organisational point of view, it was very demanding to ensure necessary resident traffic and supplies for the whole metropolitan district of Nový Svět during the construction because due to the limited street profile the street could not be reconstructed in parts and so the construction had to be divided into phases. “I would like to thank the local inhabitants for accepting the necessary restrictions with goodwill.  Obviously, it was not easy for them but I believe they are satisfied with the results of the reconstruction,” said Michal Štefl, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of OHL ŽS, a.s. today.

Under the reconstruction project, there were 350 m of the original cast iron water pipes replaced by new ones, and 72 branch lines to houses were reconstructed at the total length of 270 m. Similarly, the old cement sewer lines were replaced at the total length of 680 m and there are also 55 new house sewer connections (940 m in total). There are new bus stops in both directions and a turning bay for buses in the middle of the street. The communication surface is bituminous and the width between the street curbs is 6.5 m. Pavements made of cement slabs are on both sides of the street, they are 2 m wide in the segment along the buildings and 1.6 m wide outside of the built-up zone.

As a result of the reconstruction, there are 59 parking spaces available to drivers and 2 more  parking spaces for handicapped drivers. Deceleration elements were installed on the communication to slow down the traffic there, specifically elevated plates made of interlocking pavers, connected with crosswalks. Relocated in total were 2,900 m of electric and telecommunication cables and 870 m of the main gas supply line, including its connections to neighbouring streets.. Also replaced were 400 m of the gas pipeline to the house connections. The neighbouring local communications – Nálevkova and Rybářská streets – were also repaired. New trees and shrubs were planted throughout the location after the construction work had been finished.

The investor is the Chartered City of Olomouc, and the contract was performed by the consortium of OHL ŽS, a.s. (the leading member of the consortium) and Strabag, a.s. according to the project designed by DS Geoprojekt. The total cost amounted to nearly CZK 92.7 million, of which CZK 39.5 mill. was granted from EU funds under the Integrated Plan of the City Development.
