OHL ŽS will implement their first significant contract in the territory of Poland. The agreement on its implementation was signed by Józef Jezewicz, CEO of the Katowice branch of the Centre for Implementation of Investments of Polish State Railways, and František Ledabyl, the 1stVice-Chairman and the Marketing and Sales Director of OHL ŽS, a.s., a few days ago. On the occasion of signing the agreement, the latter said: “The decision of the Board of Directors of OHL ŽS to enter the construction market in the Polish Republic in 2010, supported by the opening of our organisational unit there last year, proved correct. This is also evidenced by the obtaining of this first contract which we have just signed. I would like to thank all my colleagues who were instrumental in making this happen.”
The subject-matter of the agreement is the reconstruction of the double-tracked railway line in the Silesian Voivodeship, in the route segment between Gliwice City and the Pyskowice Municipality, more specifically between the railway stations of Gliwice Labedy and Pyskowice. The contract also includes the drawing up of project documents and support materials for the Building Permit, and also the construction work itself.
The latter comprises of the reconstruction of the substructure and superstructure of the track, specifically the replacement of both tracks in a 4.6 km long route segment, the replacement of all wooden sleepers for those made of reinforced-concrete, shifting a part of a 0.7 km long route segment of track no. 1 to a new central line, the adaptation of the trackage, replacement of load-bearing structures of the catenary line at the length of 10 km, work on traction mains and power-supply and telecommunication installations, and the reconstruction of the trackage draining system, including stops, at the total length of 8.65 km. At the same time, railway crossings and 200-meter long platforms with the total area of 3,360 m2, including their roofing, will be reconstructed. Pavements (266 m2 in total) and railway foot crossings will also be additionally constructed.
The work on the contract at a total price exceeding PLN 29 mill., VAT included, was launched immediately after the signing of the agreement and the completion deadline is stipulated as 30 November this year. The investor is Polish State Railways and the contractor is the Transport Construction Branch of OHL ŽS, a.s.
