A LARGE-SCALE WATER MANAGEMENT PROJECT IS BEING LAUNCHED IN IVANČICE

On 12 January 2011, representatives of the investor, Svazek vodovodů a kanalizací Ivančice /The Ivančice Union of Public Services/, and the contractor, OHL ŽS, a.s., ceremonially signed a contract on the implementation of the “Improvement of Water Quality in the Jihlava and Svratka Rivers above the Nové Mlýny Dam” project. Thus, one of the largest water management projects not only in the region but also in the whole of the Czech Republic was launched.

The project includes the completion and reconstruction of the sewage and water supply systems in Ivančice, Oslavany and Padochov, including the reconstruction and intensification of the sewage treatment plant in Ivančice. After it has been completed, it will considerably contribute to improving the environment in the region.

We are pleased that this large-scale water management project was approved by the European Commission for co-financing as the first large-scale project submitted under the Operational Programme Environment 2007 – 2013 and at the same time as the first large-scale project under all operational programmes in general,”  said  Tomáš Hájek, Chairman of the Presidium of the Ivančice Union of Public Services. The contract was signed by Tomáš Nossek, CEO of Division 1 Brno of the Surface Construction Branch of OHL ŽS, a.s., on behalf of the contractor.

The total cost of the implementation of the work, exclusive of VAT, will amount to CZK 662.256 million, of which the cost of the intensification of the sewage treatment plant is CZK 160 million. The European Union will contribute CZK 444.576 million. Furthermore, the project is also co-financed with subsidies from the State Environmental Fund (CZK 26.151 million) and the Regional Authority of South Bohemia Region (CZK 13 million) and from the investor’s own sources at the amount of CZK 178.528 million.

In total, there will be 7.8 km of the sewage system in Ivančice and 2.4 km in Oslavany and Padochov reconstructed. Newly, there will be constructed 18.6 km of the sewage system (8 km Ivančice, 10.6 km Oslavany and Padochov) in total. As regards the water supply system reconstruction, 7 km will go to Ivančice, and 8 km to Oslavany and Padochov.  The contract is planned to be completed by 30 November 2012.
