The construction of the Regional Educational Centre is a part of the project of redevelopment of the former military quarters in Uherské Hradiště handed over to the city that hence became the owner of the 17 hectares of lands and nearly 60 buildings originally making up the quarters. The educational centre is located in Buildings 16, 17, 18 and 55.
Buildings 18 and 55 are now used as classrooms, lecture rooms and storage rooms, Buildings 16 and 17 serve as accommodation facilities for students. During the reconstruction nearly all dividing walls, floors and suspended ceilings were knocked down, the monolithic frames of the buildings were reconstructed and the roof covering was replaced, including roof trusses in Buildings 16 and 17. Steel exterior emergency stairways were also constructed in these buildings. Facades were padded and all windows and doors were replaced in all the buildings. Special sound proof glass was used in the educational premises. Subsequently, new dividing walls, tiling and ceilings were constructed and new floors were laid. At the same time, new connections to the existing underground services were executed and inter-premises roads, pavements and parking lots were constructed. The whole premises are designed as a barrier-free area, including the accommodation units, lifts and an access platform for disabled students.
The contract also included the implementation of the soft landscaping of this part of the premises.
