The construction of Finger C was an integral part of the project of the construction of the new Terminal North II at the Prague-Ruzyně International Airport.
Finger C is a three-story structure with a rectangular floor projection of 222.5 x 35.5 m and an average height of 16 m, which is directly connected to Terminal North II.
The whole structure is based on large-diameter piles. The foundation blocks are partially prefabricated.
The passenger boarding bridges are formed by a steel load-bearing frame on piles which bears large-area glazing and aluminium sheathing. Eight passenger boarding telescopic bridges “step out” from Finger C, of which two are doubled to enable two aeroplanes or one large aircraft to be positioned by them. Each of the passenger boarding bridges has a different gradient. The facade designs copy these gradient differences, hence making each bridge an original.
The main load-bearing system is a reinforced-concrete frame with a lateral load-bearing system – columns, bridging joists and beams. The roofing is flat in part and arched in part, made from steel girders with Q decking placed on them. The gabled patio part of the roof has been designed with the option of being walked on and with heating & ventilation units installed there.
The supply also included a guiding system, visual warning devices, underground services, mast lighting, connections and relocations of sanitary sewers and storm water drainage directly on the airport area.
