The Paediatric Part of the Motol Teaching Hospital comprises of a building in the shape of a cross, the individual sections of which are named A, B, C and D. The centre where the sections intersect is the communication hub which the operation of all the other parts depends on.

The reconstruction of Pavilion C and Communication Hub C started in June 2006. During the reconstruction, the original structure of “C” was knocked down except for the load-bearing frame which then had a communication vertical structure added to it. It was also newly fitted out with vertical constructions and equipped with modern technologies. The procedure applied to Hub S was similar, however in this case the operation of the hospital could not be limited and so construction work was implemented under full operation.

Ten floors of inpatient wards with state-of-the-art equipment, one floor of medical rooms, one floor for the milk kitchen and three technical floors were newly reconstructed in section C.

The reconstruction also included underground work with the layout forming an arch around the A, B and C Pavilions; they serve as passage ways for various installations and for the automated carriage transport system and provide premises for a new energy management centre.

This demanding reconstruction carried out under full operation of the hospital was implemented in a consortium with Metrostav a.s. and Unistav a.s.
