The core activity of the Transport Construction Branch is infrastructure development, particularly railway corridor construction, and road and motorway networks.
OHL ŽS, a.s. provides road construction as a complex supply. Together with motorways, expressways, roads and city street construction, we also implement the construction of forest paths, back roads, cycling paths, parking areas and hard surfaces, including pavements and street furniture. Some of our constructions, which we are justifiably proud of are for example the Hlinky multilevel junction, which is a part of the Large City Ring Road in Brno, the tunnel on the by-pass around Jihlava, the motorway in Azerbaijan leading from Baku to the border with the Russian Federation, the R48 expressway and the by-pass from Frýdek-Místek to Dobrá.

The management of railway corridor construction includes such areas as production and transport coordination, controlling the construction economy, qualified management of subcontractors’ building operations as well as compliance with the environmental aspects of a construction. We apply our experience gained with track structure and railway bed construction also to the construction and reconstruction of tram lines and rail sidings. Of course, the services offered by us also contain design activities.
A significant achievment for OHL ŽS, a. s. in the area of Czech track technology was acquiring a part of the Traťová strojní společnost, a.s. company. Nowadays, we have a 49 percent share in this subsidiary of the Czech Railways company. This participation occurred by making an investment contribution in the form of the company’s own track maintenance machines. The share in Traťová strojní společnost means a considerable extension of access to specialised track machines that are used for railway construction in our country as well as abroad.
