Surface Construction Branch
Activities offered by OHL ŽS include the implementation of surface construction projects, large constructional complexes and turnkey constructional works, including engineering, project designing and advisory services. As the general contractor, we implement the construction of community facilities, industrial and housing developments and civil engineering projects.
We also specialize in reconstructing listed buildings and structures. In this field, reconstruction has been carried out on passenger buildings for example in Děčín, Jistebník and Suchdol nad Odrou, along with the reconstruction of the City Theatre in Brno.
The other outstanding surface constructions include particularly the Blue Phase of the University Campus in Brno-Bohunice, the Auditorium and Centre of Information Technologies at the VŠB – Technical University in Ostrava, the University Teaching Hospital in Olomouc, and Finger C, Terminal North II of the Prague-Ruzyně international airport. In the area of housing construction, we can point to the Pyramida staggered building in Olomouc and family houses in Brno-Vinohrady. Constructions handed over to investors for industrial and business operations included for example the social & business centre in Hradec Králové, the Hornbach shopping mall in Brno and the central vehicle washing facility in the premises of DPMB, a.s.
When implementing our constructional projects, we use the most advanced procedures with an emphasis placed on the quality of the performed works. Our operations are developed by flexible teams based in Brno, Prague, Ostrava and Olomouc.

Awards won by the Surface Construction Branch
The most eminent awards for completed construction projects in the last years include several prizes won in the Best Development in the South-Moravian Region competition. We achieved for example third place in 2005 for the reconstruction of the Joštova 10 building performed for the Faculty of Social Studies of the Masaryk University, Brno; first place in 2004 for the reconstruction and completion of the Brno City Theatre building; first place for the reconstruction of the Radost Puppet Theatre (Phase II); and second place for the construction of the General Health Insurance Company of the Czech Republic, Brno.
