The by-pass road is a significant transport construction both for the City of Jihlava, and for the Vysočina Region and its infrastructure. The by-pass route runs at a length of 1.9 km through the west part of the City of Jihlava and is connected to the existing I/38 four-lane road – feeder road to the motorway from motorway D1 in the direction of Znojmo. The by-pass road is implemented as a longitudinally divided phase – the right half with the design speed of 80 km/h. The most significant part of the construction is the tunnel which is 304 m long and built by means of the “Milano Walls in an Open Cutting” technology. The tunnel has been designed as a double-tunnel structure, but only one tunnel tube was completed. The combined technology of mining and cutting-and-covering was applied in the tunnel construction. The other parts of the construction are anti-noise measures executed in the form of anti-noise walls and earth embankments, relocation of underground services (high-pressure, mean-pressure, and high-voltage cables). The tunnel construction also includes the complete technological equipment of the tunnel. Technical data: the total length of the construction is 1.9 km, the length of the tunnel is 304 m and in total the project includes 69 construction structures and 12 operational units.
