The construction sites were the Břeclav – Lanžhot rail route segment from the 0.960 km mark to the 6.873 km mark, the Lanžhot railway station from the 6.873 km mark to the 8.143 km mark, and the Lanžhot – CR/SR state border rail route segment from the 8.143 km mark to the 9.823 km mark. The construction belongs among the group of construction projects implemented as a part of the modernization and optimization of the network of selected corridors of Czech railways. The work was carried out under the conditions of single-track operation. The basic objective of the construction was to optimize the double-tracked rail route segment, i.e. the main and passing tracks, so it would comply with the set parameters, i.e. increase in the track speed up to 160 km/h for traditional train units as well as for units with tilting wagon bodies, achievement of the D4 – UIC track load class – the axial load of 225 kN and the traffic clearance corresponding to the UIC GC clearance limit, including the bridge structures and culverts in the whole rail route segment. To achieve these parameters, the railway bed and track superstructure were reconstructed throughout the whole length of the construction, 9 existing bridge structures with reinforced-concrete construction, one bridge structure with steel construction and continuous gravel ballast and three culverts were reconstructed.
The project included the construction of a new overhead contact line of the 25 kV/50 Hz system, including grounding, construction of the remote control system for section disconnectors and their connection to the system of the centrally-operated remote control device, with the possibility of local remote control. A new island platform was built and the first platform reconstructed at the Lanžhot railway station. A new subway equipped with two self-service lifts for people with limited mobility serves passengers as access to the island platform. The passenger building underwent reconstruction consisting mainly of the adaptation of the station inspector’s office, construction of new ticket offices and reconstruction of the roof and toilets for passengers. Two anti-noise walls were erected and individual anti-noise measures were implemented to reduce the noise level. New lighting of the station, subways and platforms, including electric heating of switches, was installed at the Lanžhot railway station. One level crossing was removed at the Lanžhot railway station. The existing safety device at the Lanžhot railway station was replaced with an electronic safety device of the third esa 11 category.
