The construction starts at the 47.550 km mark behind the Trnava railway station and in addition to 4 rail route segments, it also includes the modernization of the Leopoldov and Velké Kostoľany railway stations, reconstruction of the Brestovany railway station into a stopping point and a passing point, and the Madunice and Drahovce stopping points. Furthermore, the construction includes the reconstruction of TNS Trnava and RSE Bratislava. The construction ends at the 80.504 km mark and is followed by the Piešťany – Nové Mesto nad Váhom Phase II. The total length of the rail route segment is 32.954 km, and it is divided into 182 construction structures and 112 operational units.

The modernization included the reconstruction of the railway bed and track superstructure, grade-separated access ways to island platforms, reconstruction of platforms, redevelopment of unstable slopes, reconstruction of bridges and culverts, construction of subways and underground structures to accommodate technological facilities. A new overhead contact line, communication and safety facilities, lighting, low-voltage distributors, electric heating of switches, new cable lines and lighting, and anti-noise measures in the affected locations were constructed.
