The subject of the contract is the complete construction of “Modernization of the Přerov – Olomouc Rail Route Segment, Part 1” which belongs among the group of construction projects implemented as a part of the modernization and optimization of the network of selected corridors of Czech railways. From the point of view of international passenger and freight transport, this rail route segment is a connecting rail of Transit Rail Corridor II (Austria-Břeclav-Přerov-Ostrava -Petrovice-Poland), linking it to Transit Rail Corridor I (FRD-Děčín-Prague-Česká Třebová-Brno-Břeclav-Austria). The connecting rail also makes up a part of the East-West connection.

The construction was implemented with the aim of putting the Přerov – Olomouc double-tracked rail route segment into a structural & technical and operational condition that would comply with the set parameters, i.e. an increase in the track speed up to 160 km/h for traditional train units as well as for units with tilting wagon bodies, the achievement of the D4 – UIC track load class – the axial load of 225 kN and the traffic clearance corresponding to the UIC GC clearance limit, including the bridge structures and culverts in the whole rail route segment.

The construction had a linear character and its major part was carried out on the existing railway bed. The construction work was carried out on a closed off rail, with concurrent single-track two-way operation on the track that was not closed off. The construction starts at the 199.800 km mark and ends at the 205.200 km mark according to the new localization by kilometre spacing. The subject of the construction was the reconstruction of the railway bed and track superstructure, including level crossings, and also reconstruction of bridges, culverts, overhead contact lines, the Grygov Substation, safety and communication facilities, cable lines, construction of necessary technological structures for installation of technological devices, anti-noise measures and soft landscaping.
