On 27 January 2010, construction of the vacual sewage collection system and mechanical-biological sewage treatment plant in the municipalities of Žďár and Doubrava in the Central Bohemian Region was ceremonially launched by tapping the foundation stone. After its completion, the new sewage collection system and sewage treatment plant will dispose of 51 tons of impurities, and 1,600 equivalent inhabitants will be newly connected to the sewage collection system. The investor of the contract, costing nearly CZK 118 million, is the municipality of Žďár, with the European Union and the State Environmental Fund participating in the funding of the project. The contract will be performed by the consortium of OHL ŽS, a.s. and K2 Aquecon, spol. s r.o. according to the project design drawn up by V&K Engineering Turnov. The project is planned to be completed by July 2011.
As a part of the 1stand 2ndphase of the project, a new 16.2 km long vacual sewage collection system will be constructed to ensure sewage collecting in the municipalities of Žďár and Doubrava. A vacual station will be constructed in Doubrava and a new mechanical-biological sewage treatment plant will be constructed in Žďár. In the future, it will enable to treat sewage waters from the other phases of the construction of the sewage collection system, which are currently under preparation. Thanks to the implementation of this project, it will be possible to annually dispose of more than 51 tons of impurities and connect 1,600 equivalent inhabitants to the sewage collection system.
¨The investor of the construction is the municipality of Žďár and the total construction costs will amount to nearly CZK 118 million. The project is co-financed by the European Union – the Cohesion Fund, and the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic, while the contribution from the Cohesion Fund will amount to nearly 71 %, the State Environmental Fund will contribute with more than 4 %, and the remaining 25 % will be covered by the investor. “I am very glad we have managed to raise subsidies both from the European Union and the State Environmental Fund because without them it would be actually unfeasible to implement a project of this scale, ” said Josef Housa, the mayor of the municipality of Žďár today.
The investors’s engineering supervision is carried out by VIS-Vodohospodářsko-inženýrské služby, spol. s r.o. The contract will be performed by the consortium of OHL ŽS, a.s. and K2 Aquecon, spol. s r.o. according to the project design drawn up by V&K Engineering Turnov. “Every new sewage collection system and sewage treatment plant enhances the quality of environment for all of us. Therefore, I am very glad that our company may participate in this significant contract,” said Michal Štefl, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of OHL ŽS, a.s. The construction of the sewage collection system and the sewage treatment plant was started by handing the site over to the constructor in January 2010 and it will be finished in July 2011.
