OHL ŽS HAS WON ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT CONTRACT IN POLAND

On 10 November 2010, Polish State Railways signed a contract with the contractor to design and carry out construction work on the Biadoliny – Tarnov section of the railway line between Krakow and Rzeszów.

The railway makes up a part of the E30 international transport corridor, connecting the West and East of Europe and running through the Polish territory from its state border with Germany via Zgorzelec Wegliniec, Wroclaw, Opole, Gliwice, Katowice, Krakow, Tarnov, Rzeszów, and Przemyśl to Lwów and Kyiv, Ukraine. The leading member of the consortium that will reconstruct this line section is OHL ŽS, a.s., Transport Construction Branch.

The contract will include the upgrading of 18.9 km of trackage,,the reconstruction of trackage in the Bogumilowice, Tarnov – Moscice and Tarnov stations, the reconstruction of 16 culverts, 18 railway bridges and one road bridge, the construction of three subways, the removal of nine railway level crossings, the upgrading of safeguarding equipment on one railway crossing, the upgrading of the equipment for rail traffic control and telecommunication devices, the complete replacement of the contact line and power supply systems in line and station sections and the construction of 9.65 km of acoustic walls.

The value of the contract is PLN 623.26 million (around CZK 3.74 billion), inclusive of VAT. The contractor is the consortium of OHL ŽS, a.s., Transport Construction Branch (the leading member of the consortium), the ZUE Group and Swietelsky Baugesellschaft m.b.H. The contract will be performed from November 2010 to December 2014.
