On 16 March, a contract was signed by and between OHL ŽS, a.s. and the Motorway Administration of the Republic of Serbia for construction of a motorway intersection costing € 11.5 million, which will be built north of Banja Luka. The project, which will take two years to complete, also includes a 580-meter long motorway bridge.
The Republic of Serbia makes up a part of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Banja Luka is its capital as well as being the second largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The ceremonial signing of the contract at the Cabinet Office of the Republic of Serbia was attended by the Prime Minister, Milodar Dodik, the Minister of Transport, Nedeljko Ćubrilović, and the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Bosnia, Tomáš Szunyog. By so doing, they ceremonially launched the project which will begin in April.
The motorway junction will connect the future Banja Luka – Gradiška (a city on the state border of Bosnia and Herzegovina with Croatia) motorway and the Doboj – Banja Luka motorway. The motorway intersection will include a 580-meter long bridge as its specific component, which will be the first structure of this type in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We highly respect the trust that the investor has placed in us. I believe that the motorists who will use the motorway intersection in the future will also be satisfied with our work,” said František Ledabyl, the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors and Marketing and Commercial Manager of OHL ŽS, a.s.
The investor of the project is the Motorway Administration of the Republic of Serbia and the total costs will amount to € 11.5 million. The construction project is co-financed by the European Commission which provided a donation of € 5 million to the Government of the Republic of Serbia. The remaining sum, i.e. € 6.5 million, is a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The work on the construction site should last 24 months and along with OHL ŽS, a.s., the local Niskogradnja, d.o.o. company from the City of Laktaša will participate in it.
