The Střížkov metro station is one of three stations forming the extension of the North route of the Prague underground. This station is unique due to its engineering design. It is an excavated station with lateral platforms and one vestibule integrated into the hall area. The salient feature is the unique steel frame shaped as two crossed arches bearing the roof, which enables maximum fenestration and thus access of daylight to the platform area.
One of the lateral walls opens out to the sunken patio with a staircase or lift serving as the way from the outside surroundings to the platforms. Escalators and overpaths on two levels enable barrier-free crossing of the tracks, or passing through the station. The safety and orientation of passengers is supported with the acoustic passenger address system and diode luminary belts. The positive impression is enhanced by the significant amount of natural greenery in the interior premises as well as shops and the wine bar integrated directly into the station interior.
The construction was implemented by the consortium of OHL ŽS, a.s. and Hochtief CZ, a.s.
