The objective of the reconstruction was to renovate the original design of the spatial layout of the entrance hall and the pantheon on the ground floor, the multi-level vestibules as well as exhibition halls. Dividing walls and partitions were removed from the entrance space of the museum which was then newly paved. The interior staircase was reconditioned and fitted with a massive banister newly produced for it in the Art Deco style.
Internal plaster was repaired and heating and energy distribution systems were installed. The low-tension and power lines were installed in doubled floors. All the doors and wooden glassed walls separating the fire compartments between exhibition halls and entrance vestibules were replaced. The roof cladding of the building was padded with the aim of lowering the energy consumption. The complex work included the reconstruction of the motion-picture theatre for 120 viewers into a multi-function conference hall which is equipped with modern audio-visual devices and also a traditional projection device for 35 mm films.
A new separate entrance for the staff of the museum was constructed, the lift and sanitary facilities were reconstructed and the cloakroom and the shop premises underwent renovation. At the same time, the whole building was adapted for barrier-free access and a parking lot for 42 vehicles was constructed.
