It has already become a tradition that our company supports events in culture and the arts. One of the forms of such support is the partnership in Trebbia benefit gala evenings.
On 13 January 2006 this year, the award was ceremonially announced for the 6th consecutive time – specifically Trebbia 2005. This European prize for support of culture and creative work is awarded by the International Nomination Committee of the MIRO Gallery, Prague. Patronage of this award was assumed by the Czech Minister of Culture, Vítězslav Jandák.
The benefit gala evening was broadcast live on the ČT2 TV channel.
During this significant benefit evening cheques were handed over for money raised by selling Miro Picture Vouchers in 2005 and donated as contributions by partners of the 6thTrebbia gala evening. This year, the cheques were granted to the Plaváček Foundation of husband and wife Juraj and Deana Jakubisko and to the Třeboň Parish as a contribution toward the restoration of the “Crowning of the Virgin Mary” altar picture.
The Trebbia awards for support of the arts in 2005 were taken by Ms. Meda Mládková, Mr.Richard H. Mayer, and Mr. Zdeněk Gondol; the Trebbia awards for creative work in 2005 were won by Ms. Emma de Sigaldi and Mr. Ladislav Ballek together with Amrim Aminov.
The cheques and prizes were handed over by celebrities of Czech public life, for example the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Jiří Paroubek, the Minister of Culture, Vítezslav Jandák, the photographer Jan Saudek, and also CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of OHL ŽS, a.s., Michal Štefl, as well as Gabriela Beňačková, Blanka Matragi, Chantal Poullain and Vladimír Vihan.

The Trebbia 2005 gala evening was presented by Ms. Marie Retková, one of the prizes was handed over by, the Prime Minister of our country, together with the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of OHL ŽS, a.s. Michal Štefl.
Every year, the prize awards are preceded by a careful selection procedure which the nomination committee is responsible for. The International Nomination Committee for Trebbia 2005 comprised of 12 representatives of cultural and public life both of the Czech Republic and other countries. Let us mention for example the CEO of J. B. F. Editions d´Art in Paris, Jean Amiot, President of the International Association of Writers and Journalists (London – Riga), Marat Kalandarov and the President of Club Diplomatique International in Prague, Paul Thomas Grün.
Naturally, the benefit gala evening was held in a cultural spirit also thanks to the world premiere of the TREBBIA symphonic overture by Juraj Filas, performed by the Orchestra of the Prague State Opera; furthermore, the violinist Gabriela Demeterová, the clarinettist Ludmila Peterková, the soprano Alena Miro and other Czech artists showed off their skills.
It has always been a matter of honour for HL ŽS, a.s. to participate in such an important event for the support of culture and arts.
