Every year, OHL ŽS, a.s. actively supports the Moravian Autumn Festival, which makes up a part of the International Music Festival Brno.
OHL ŽS, a.s. has already became a traditional partner of the renowned cultural event – the Moravian Autumn Festival, which makes up a part of the International Music Festival Brno.
The International Music Festival Brno was established in 1966 when the activities carried out by arts institutions in Brno were gradually regaining their international dimension after years of tough isolation, thus opening up Brno and its musical life to the surrounding world. In the course of its history, this festival of art maintained its characteristic themes focusing on one contemporary topic every year. Besides concerts and the opera section, it also comprises of a musicology section in the form of regular musicological colloquia.
In the course of year, the International Music Festival Brno includes, besides the unrivalled Moravian Autumn, also the Easter Festival of Religious Music, the New Music Exposition and the International Interpretation Competition in some of the instruments and instrumental groups.
The 41styear of the Moravian Autumn was held under the patronage of Přemysl Sobotka, President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, and Richard Svoboda, Mayor of the Statutory City of Brno.
The programme of the festival is scheduled for 22 September to 7 October 2006 and its central topic is “Three Giants – Mozart, Schumann, Shostakovitch”. The dramaturgical plan to put Mozart’s works into contrast with compositions by the romantic Schumann and almost contemporary Shostakovitch accentuated not only the differences in the attitudes to life adopted by these artists representing three various centuries, but also their common message – the efforts to make the world more human.

The Convent of Merciful Brothers, Brno hosted for example Puella Trio (Terezie Fialová – piano, Eva Karová – violin, Markéta Vrbková – violoncello).
The festival welcomed top artists, such as the Brno State Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bonn Beethoven Orchestra, Big Band of Felix Slováček, the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, Radiosymphonie Orchester Wien, and also such personalities as Jurij Bashmet, conductor, along with singers Martina Zadro and Dagmar Pecková, in various representative venues of Brno.

One of the unique experiences for the audience of the 41styear of the Moravian Autumn was the concert given by the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra (conductor- Eduard Topchjan) in the Janáček Theatre in Brno.
We are glad that we rank among those who help to strengthen cultural awareness and education and we would like to make use of this present opportunity to welcome all the supporters to the following year of the Moravian Autumn. It will be held on 21 September – 6 October 2007 and its motto will be “Sweet Breath of Nature”.
