OHL ŽS, a.s. realizes the seriousness of real life struggles and personal problems of people. Especially in cases associated with a long-term and often stressful illness.
For a long time, it has been supporting, among others, the Oncological Information Centre (OIC) of the Masaryk Oncological Institute in Brno.
The centre provides basic information on malign diseases to patients, helps members of patients’ families and friends to cope with problems associated with such diseases and focuses on prevention, targeting the general public.
Only the early detection of a tumour gives patients a chance of recovery and good quality of life. In addition to this, the cost of treating an oncological disease in its early stages is lower.
The Centre provides all its services free of charge.
Time has shown that it was definitely right to establish the Oncological Information Centre in the Masaryk Oncological Institute in 2001. Its services are used not only by patients and their relatives but also, with growing frequency, which is a priority, by the general public who find basic information about the prevention of tumorous conditions here. Thanks to the diversity of services on offer and the possibility of personal visits and less personal telephone calls as well as absolutely confidential questions asked via an Internet interface, the Centre gradually gains its clients from all age categories, men and women, people having questions about various issues:

Since its establishment in 1935, the Masaryk Oncological Institute has been committed solely to the treatment of malign tumorous conditions. It is the only health care facility of its type in the Czech Republic, containing the full range of diagnostic, medical, scientific and research activities as well as pre-graduate and post-graduate education on one site – under one roof. It also considers raising public awareness to be its responsibility.
