In July 2006, OHL Concessions began its activity in the railway infrastructure business line, when it was awarded two city lines within the Autonomous Community of Madrid.
These lines cover a total of 22 km. and represent the Western Light Rail network, providing services to the municipalities of Boadilla del Monte and Pozuelo de Alarcón (in one of Madrid's most rapidly growing areas).
The concessionaire has signed a 646-million euro facility for the Western Light Rail network, the highest facility ever granted to a private railway concession in Spain. The financing was provided by a bank syndicate in which Ahorro Corporación, Santander and BBVA acted as guarantors, with the participation of 21 financial entities. The credit was granted for a 23-year term as project financing.
